Gynecologic surgery department
Our areas of expertise are:
1. Endovideosurgery (Gynecologic laparoscopy). This is a modern minimally invasive method of surgical treatment, sometimes referred to as “keyhole surgery”, when instead of a large incision surgery is performed via small 5-12 mm punctures for the surgeon's instruments and a video camera.
We perform all kinds of gynecologic surgery laparoscopically, including interventions for uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, as well as endometriosis, prolapse and infertility surgery.
2. Vaginal surgery. Surgical intervention is performed using vaginal approach; there are no incisions or punctures on the abdomen.
Surgical interventions that are carried out by this method:
-
in case of the uterine or vaginal wall prolapse (native tissue repair or mesh-based surgery) which can be both organ-preserving and radical (with uterus removal if medically required),
-
correction of stress urinary incontinence (using synthetic tape),
-
surgical treatment of genitourinary fistulas, as well as removal of external genitalia tumors: vaginal cysts, cysts of Bartholin glands, labioplasty, etc.
In addition, in some cases, if the patient does not suffer from pelvic organs descent but has some kind of uterine pathology requiring its removal, it is also possible to use vaginal route.
3. Surgical treatment using traditional method (laparotomy). In cases, when use of the minimally invasive techniques are not indicated, surgical treatment is performed using the traditional incision (laparotomy). Mini-laparotomy (when a small suprapubic horizontal incision is made and wound is closed with a cosmetic suture) is preferrable (if possible).
4. Minor surgical interventions for treatment of gynecological diseases. Moreover, in our clinic, gynecologists perform both outpatient and inpatient minor surgical interventions (if case is suspected increased surgical complexity or the patient has a severe comorbidity):
-
Hysteroscopy: examination of the cervical canal and uterine cavity in order to diagnose uterine endometriosis, endometrial pathology, cause of uterine bleeding, lost IUDs.
-
Hystero-resectoscopy: similar technique that allows, in addition to examination, to remove various tumors (polyps of the cervix and endometrium, submucous myomas, synechia (intrauterine adhesions), uterine septum) under visual control with special tools.
5. The gynecological surgery department performs surgical correction of congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract. In order to determine the need for such surgery and its type, a preliminary consultation with a gynecologist is required.
